Now We're Cookin'...

Just in case you're looking for new vintage goodies for your kitchen...we've got them at Snap Snap.

This is the beauty of having so much room and a creative partner such as my mother...who is also a vintage textile lover.  We have plenty of linens in stock and more coming in every day.

Including a much overlooked little basket of linens for 10 cents.  I'm unsure of why it is overlooked, as it's right at the front next to our front counter, but there you go.  Perhaps it's the startling low price?  But I can almost guarantee that of you dig around you can find a whole set of napkins or a few little towels, perfect for home projects you need single linens for or if you're just looking to replace throw away paper towels for meal times...

Vintage Cowgirl Inspiration...

And here's what had me gluing my fingers and other parts of my hands to everything in Kari and Jay's studio...Totally vintage inspired necklaces.

These were Kari's original design using vintage Cowgirl photos with burned edges that were then attached to the rusted buckle charms (this is where it becomes dangerous for the fingers...well, my fingers in particular as everyone else seems to have a whole lot more experience with glue in this area than myself) and embellished with charms and bling, and all attached to the copper and silver ball chain necklaces.

I just helped out with the design execution in the end.

And right now they are a Prescott Snap Snap exclusive (and a Cheyenne exclusive if you happen to be in that area) and were lovingly arranged in the shop by yours truly just today.

We also made one Eight Ball charmed necklace and one Mini Flask necklace as well.  We also made a full sized flask, but that's still at the studio as we're perfecting the exact design on that little beauty.

Stop by and see them when you get a chance, as I don't normally make jewelry (being that I'm still biting the glue off of myself) but had a wonderfully inspired and fun time doing these little beauties with Kari, because I love me some sweet old cowgirl illustrations.

Can I get a Ye-Haw?

Or a Yippie-I-O?

Red Hot Vintage Linens...

I absolutely adore monogrammed vintage linens...in fact, I love them so much I collect them.  Don't worry though, with all the purging and cleaning around here, I have a great project in the works at the moment to utilize them, so they will be seen (as I am using this as a new standard in which to keep things around here...I have to be able to see things and enjoy them) and not stuffed in drawers or closets...much.

Ahem.

My mother and I being total textile lovers means we also happen to have tons and tons of vintage linens at Snap Snap...and by tons and tons, I mean my mother has been madly pricing and has gone through no less than 100 tags today...which means, we have a whole lot of amazing embroidered, beautiful embroidered, and just plain linens.

They are also affordable prices and range anywhere from 10 cents (oh yes, that's right) to 10 dollars.

Come one come all...

But this particular one caught my eye, and I had to snatch it right up because it had me in stitches...mostly because it says "Hot Muffins" on it...

And mostly because it also seems to have this rather large burn hole in it...

Hot Muffins indeed...

Valentine's Window...

The first window I've really put together in the new space...and one that's been on my mind tucked way in the back for a little while now.  That's how my creative process is...things hide in there and pop out every once in a while.

(I just hope they do it at the right time.  So far, so good)
This window has a rather large gold Cupid (I've been saving forever oddly enough) blowing glittering red hearts out of his horn...and even though you can't see it (because it's darned hard to take a picture of the entire window...from the outside I have too much glare, and from the inside I need to make myself into a contortionist!) The floor is lined with fluffy red and white crinolines...which kind of makes it look like our lady there is standing in clouds.

See?!

For everyone who secretly (and not so secretly) rolled their eyes at my insane crinoline buying binge this year...I did find something to do with them.

And heavens, when you stop to think about it...the possibilities are really endless.

(mostly because I still have about 12 that aren't being used...because they were too colorful for this particular window.  Whee Anyway!!)

We have two large windows at the shop, so it should be both challenging and fun to dress them up.  There's nothing more fantastic than creating a vignette that makes people stop and look...and yesterday, I noticed that both of the windows have little finger, hand, and forehead marks all over them.

Which is usually indicative of people stopping to lean and peer against the glass trying to see inside...

What a wonderful compliment!

Heavy Metal...

One of the new things we're carrying at Snap Snap are the most incredible little charms made by my friend Kari's metal fabrication shop here in Prescott.  There are tons of different shapes and designs to choose from, including but not limited to (of course):  Hearts (with stars, hearts, and piece signs in them) winged hearts and guitars, Guitars (with stars, hearts, and piece signs in them) Stars (with...well, you get the picture) Cowgirls and Cowboys...Flaming Hearts, Flowers, Clovers, Butterflies, Dragonflies...etc.

They are all ready to go and perfect to wear as charms on a necklace...and Kari has loaded us up with piles of Ball Chain that is just ideal for you to create your own jewelry design.  And the ball chain is incredible!  It varies in sizes from very small to very big (pictures to come)

Or you could use these to make words for signs or names or just about anything else...little tags for gifts, or complete gifts in themselves for those creative people in your life.

Oh Wait.  Did I mention that we also have an entire metal alphabet as well?!

We do!

And there will be more to come...different fonts and different sizes, and we will be able to do most custom work to fit whatever creative indulgences you may have.

The little metal charms are completely affordable being only $2.50 each or 5 for $10.00...

So, come on down and check them out, they've already been flying out the door...

Especially the ones with the wings!

Now Open...

After about a week of moving, organizing, hanging...and moving large heaving things (like shelving, furniture, and all sorts of objects like that) we've officially opened the New Snap Snap on Cortez St Sunday January 2nd!

It is no where complete as far as we've had it pictured in our heads, in the land of imagination and creativity...which is a little surprising to me (I think sometimes I'm under the impression I can snap my fingers and everything will just magically come together in seconds.)  However, there's something you need to know about me.  I think the way I picture things in my head and the way they turn out in reality are very different.

And you know what?

That usually means that it turns out better and in ways I've never expected.

This is also such a large and open space the possibilities for how to arrange things is endless in my head and a bit overwhelming for me...thank heavens for my mother!  She has owned and worked in so many large spaces she comes up with the greatest ideas and awesome arrangements!  When I opened the other Snap Snap almost 16 years ago, the space could only really be laid out in a certain way and somewhere in my head I keep thinking that I walked in and everything magically looked like it did later when I was open.
*poof*

Instant store!

What I'm not remembering, is how many days I stood on top of a ladder painting...how I added and subtracted racks, displays, frames, mannequins.  And, as this space evolves, we'll be doing the same things...always rearranging always changing.

We are working on decorating and fluffing, as well as solving some pesky wall rack problems.  The walls in this old building are different than the walls in the other old building I was in, so they need to be addressed in a different way.  I don't have that knowledge, but I am working on meeting with people who do.

We still have to install dressing rooms.  I do have the three walls, and they just need to be secured to the space designated for them and painted...and there are two wall racks that need to go up, and when I left yesterday some extra shelves we aren't going to need at the moment were being taken to storage, so I am excited to get to the shop to see what space that opened up or a few floor racks to spread out into (because try as I might, I haven't been able to picture it in my head.)

Did I mention during the middle of all of this moving and arranging and setting up shop that we had a rather large snowstorm and crazy Prescott deep freeze?

Well we did.  Which relegated me to walking everywhere I needed to go for 3 days.  Anything else I needed was saved until I felt safe enough to dig my car out and attempt to drive down my street and not go down sideways.  Luckily it wasn't that bad...after the first day.

We also had a major medical scare in the family...so it has been quite a week indeed.

But a good one, and the new shop will all come together in time in surprising ways in which we haven't anticipated.  Sure we have things to iron out, but after both my mother and I running shops for so many years, I think we can both agree that this is to be expected when owning your own shop.  There's always something to be ironed out and something to work on and improve.

That's what makes it yours.

So, we'll see you downtown in our new location on 133 N. Cortez!

Snow and Design...

Just a small teaser picture of one of the windows of the new shop.

...says the woman who keeps forgetting her camera.

...says the woman who has consecutively woken up at 4 am for the last two days.

Ahem.

My mother and I have been knee deep, or maybe hip deep (come to think of it) in preparations for opening the shop.

Things like:

*Moving heavy heavy objects all around the new space.  My body is so sore it's amazing.  Luckily most of the times we're pushing, hauling and lifting things around we inevitably have to break for laughter...which makes it all worth it, and things are starting to really come together, amidst all the laughter.  What a fun way to create!

*Making many trips all around the shop with armloads of clothing, as all of the clothing was delivered yesterday and we ran out of places to hang it right towards the end and had to come up with a more alternative plan and lay them in piles on the ground.  Walking around a space that is almost twice as big as the other one is exhausting, but in an exhilarating way!

*Working through our first real snow storm of the year...which set the delivery of the wall racks back a day (and only one, I hope) and feeling mighty lucky that the clothing move was scheduled for the sunny day, and not the snowy/blizzard one.  Which gives us more time to fluff and design the rest of the space, and come up with different ideas for placement...I tell you, there are times when I've looked around and thought that not all of the clothes are going to fit...but I know the space is so much bigger that I'm just being silly!

*Hand washing little loads of Vintage doll clothes, and receiving emails of inspiration from my mother...which lets my mind relax and wander into the realm of window design.  What we have up right now is something we  put together in between pushing and pulling furniture, shelves, and showcases...what is going on in my head (and both of our heads) is more exciting.  It's like seeing a whole other light at the end of the tunnel...or seeing a whole other door open in a room with a lot of other open doors and windows.  It's another fun part of the shop...and the part you can let sneak in when you're in between moving and your mind relaxes a bit in a different way.

*And that Murano glass chandelier up there in that picture?  It's totally wired and working...I just forgot to turn it on for the photo (I would love to see the whole shop hung with chandeliers like that one.)  But I promise that I will take more photos soon.  We are shooting for an earlier opening date than we had originally discussed, and we'll see if we can make that happen.

For now?

I think I'll sit and watch the snow come down and dream...

To Do Lists...

I am here to say that the amount of To Do Lists around here have reached epic proportions.

This is only to be expected, as my mother and I are currently elbow deep in the negotiation of the moving of 2 businesses (well, 3 if you count the reorganizing and revamping of her other store Keystone Antiques, which will be even more packed full of goodies when we get towards the end of this month) and as I was totally and completely ready to go early this morning (I'm getting to the stage where I am having a hard time relaxing and feel more comfortable if I'm doing something instead)  I offered to help my mother out before I dashed to work for the day myself...whereupon completion of said help, we were catching our breath and my mother was rearranging her lists in front of her.

This is exactly the point in which we started laughing.

She had spread out in front of her no less than 3 envelopes with things written on them and arrows and exclamation points and things crossed out.  It was impressive.  She's a big believer in reuse and recycle (which could be only one of the reasons we both work in the secondary market;  Antiques, Collectibles, Resale Clothing...the other is our joint passion for such things) so she usually snags old envelopes from bills and letters she saves and routinely uses them to make lists on.

Which is just as well, seeing as there may be a lot of list making around here for some time to come...I tell you, it's impressive indeed.

Snap Snap Update:  The Book Section and all of the Jewelry are moved out of the Snap Snap and are already at the new location on 133 N. Cortez St.  Also, I have counter tops and a large lit case with adjustable glass shelves, in case anyone is interested in buying displays for a shop...While cleaning out the jewelry case, I did open the doors on the bottom of it and found a blue mirror I used to use for display, 2 pairs of vintage wrap around safety glasses, and a vintage "Grand Opening" cloth banner.  I think all of those things will come in handy at some point, no?

I also think I narrowed down a color for the walls of the new location, which kind of lends itself to a lovely rich cream hue.  We really want to have a neutral palette in which to build off of (and not clash with the amazing wood floors that grace the new shop.)  While I did paint the original Snap Snap with a lot of whimsy and color...We both feel like we want to take the new shop in a different direction.  Since we will be offering so many other items for sale at any one time, stock will be changing constantly, we will build and design our displays off of all the baubles and fun items we have in at the moment instead of relying on a static wall bling.

I have also redesigned all the Shop Tags (a more flowy background and static font, instead of a hand lettered font like I have been using since 1995) with the help of the lovely staff at Staples here in town.  Dina and I also got together and designed a lovely flier for my BIG move as well...so it's plastered all over windows and being handed out.

That's all for now.  I'm off to start making lists...

The Time is Now For BIG Changes...

Well I have exciting news...After almost 16 years at the exact same location, towards the first of 2011, I will be moving Snap Snap!

I know.

We haven't even had New Year's Eve, and there's already big changes happening in my corner of the world...and Snap Snap's corner of the world too for that matter.

The new shop will be a joint venture between my mother and I, in a much larger space for me (although, we will be keeping the name Snap Snap and our phone number) and on a much busier street in the town....Kind of known around these parts as Antique Row.  I will be moving everything to 133 N. Cortez St.  Besides gaining space, there will be some wonderful new changes at hand.

Along with all the fantastic things I carry now at Snap Snap (name brand clothing for women and men, jewelry, handbags, shoes, hats, and any other wearable accessories...) we will be expanding into and exploring the idea of a whole Resale Lifestyle.

Which simply means that we will also be offering Antiques, Collectibles, books, vintage household items, vintage supplies, and things in which to feather and fluff your entire life...

Resale Mind, Body, Soul.

In anticipation, I have begun finding more display items and other ideas in which to grow Snap Snap up and bring it into a different stage in its life.  We both have creative ideas of where to take this new space, and still let it remain a more than affordable, alternative,  and exciting place to shop in Prescott.

People keep asking me Why Now?

Well, it seems like the right time for me to set my sights on something that my mother and I have been tossing around now in the air for more than a year...it seems like it is the right time to combine our creativity and see where we go.  Between us we have more than 30 years worth of experience running shops  in Prescott.

It's time.

*I will be updating this space regularly with news about the big move...Here We Go...

20 October 2010

Just When You Thought...

I would be posting regularly.

Or maybe that's just what I was thinking...?  Halfheartedly.  Last week?  When I posted more than once.  Honestly...I had great hopes for myself.

Sigh.

I'm stepping off the self-whipping post now.

Honestly, it's the words of life.  They are still escaping me...someone recently told me maybe instead of talking about what is going on in my life, it was more of a feeling thing.

So, scuse me while I feel all over the place.

(that sounds illegal)

Ok...so here's the happs:

*I think I am mostly over my cold/allergy situation.  Just some residual coughing and spluttering here and there.  In fact, I made it to the gym today to walk on the treadmill for almost an hour.  Lifting weights almost made me collapse, and I was only thinking about it...imagine what would have happened if I would have actually done something more?

*Fall has arrived in my little corner of Arizona.  I also decorated my mantle for Halloween...and I know how much you adore seeing those pictures, and I will most certainly post them soon.  I promise.

*At one point not too long ago, I totally ran out of hangers at Snap! Snap!  and shortly thereafter, I ran out of room...and I still had a 4 foot pile of clothing to be priced and put away and more walking through the door every minute.  You'll be happy to know that this pricing/organizing/markingdown/rearranging has happened...and the shop is stocked and fabulous...I have a surplus of everything (which is just fantastic as the weather is about to change and it's time to start thinking of new wardrobe items)

*I have been keeping a secret.

*I know.

*Not fair.

(*It's a biggie too...)

*And, it kind of affects you directly (mostly) (mostly not because I've been so crazy quiet here as of late)

*The blog will be quiet for the rest of the week...because I'm going away.

*Again.

* This is a total spur/surprise trip for me (which means in between having my head in the clouds, I've been packing and repacking the perfect wardrobe...)

*Thursday will find me and two of my loveliest girlie friends boarding a plane to other places. You can follow me on facebook like my Seattle trip if you're so inclined (although, I'm borrowing a point and shoot so there will be scads of pictures and probably words when I get back)

...And here's a bit of a hint as to where I will be landing:

And yes, I am totally delirious.

Totally.

On Air...

Goodness.

I almost totally forgot what with life creeping in at every corner and whatnot...I was recently interviewed for the radio by Andrew Johnson-Schmit for his show Prescott Art Beat.  It was a wonderful interview (although to be perfectly fair, Andrew is very easy to talk to...and if you put a fez on that guy's head up there...that's pretty much what Andrew looks like.  Give or take a line drawing or two...) about fashion as art.

Or something like that.

We talked about clothing and shoes and vintage as well as current couture and style...these are a few of my favorite things!

It makes me so excited to think about it that I figured I'll have to re-listen to it, won't I?

So...if you want to hear my melodic voice
(ahem)

16 July 2010

And...

Changing the windows at Snap! Snap!

Incorporating:

Strings of Vintage wooden thread spools
Vintage wooden shoe forms
Vintage clothes and Current Fashions

Watching:

The rain pour down outside
The end of the week slip by
People come and go

Eating:

Not a darned thing, as I was totally going to run by Pangaeas this morning before work and grab a macaroon...and I totally ran out of time.  I'm somehow remembering that they close before I do, so I may just have to remain macaroonless.

Wondering:

If I accidentally left the cat out?

And about a hundred tiny little things I have no control over and...
and.

and.

Tooled...

In the form of this lovely little vintage leather clutch which is currently waiting for its forever home at Snap Snap this week.

I get so excited to rescue and offer vintage western items at the shop...I mean, heck yeah we're a western town...and we're the original territorial capital (twice), and we are home to The World's Oldest Rodeo...I mean, the Earp Brothers used to hang out on Whiskey Row, which of course means we're legitimate vintage, but that doesn't mean we're full to the bursting of vintage western that you can just hold in your hands and walk around with.

(we don't take kindly to looting the historic buildings here)

(besides...have you ever tried putting a courthouse in your pocket?)

(Precisely...)

Yes, vintage western is getting as scarce as most vintage eventually does.  I chalk it up to the romance of the cowboy and the Wild West...it's a love affair that runs rampant through our own American culture as well as a whole lot of other countries in the world.  So, I tend to snap up any vintage western that meanders across my path and direct it into Snap Snap (gently, but with a lasso)  to sit and wait for the perfect person to go home with.

The wild west is a very cool place...

Especially when you can dress it up in tooled leather and put your change, ID, and family photos in it's sweet red leather interior.

Or photos of you in a rodeo.

With that big ole' buckle?

Whatever.

Authentinc Vintage Ye-Haw!

In the form of a peach embroidered YoungBloods brand cactus, wheel, and century plant shirt!  The maroon and silver threads contrast nicely with this awesome snap front vintage Western treasure...

Just in at Snap Snap this morning fresh for the picking.

I sometimes find it hard not to save all the great Western shirts that pass through my hands...especially since I live in a town that boasts The Worlds Oldest Rodeo, and I actually have reasons to wear them more than a few times a year.

And especially when they're in a men's medium.

And embroidered...with some pretty serious iconic western images.

And getting much harder to come by these days...

Really...there's so many reasons I could fall in love with this shirt forever!

12 March 2010

Cat Lady Couture...

Well, winter is pretty much over.  I'm sure of it...I mean, yesterday when I woke up, I had to shovel my way to the car under 7 inches of snow and when I got home there was no snow anywhere...

Come to think of it though, we haven't had Easter yet, and it usually snows then...

But, it's going to be close to 60 on Monday!

Then again, the weather report said the last bunch of storms was going to blow right by...so I'm not sure we can all together trust those guys.

As it is, I'll be layering my clothes for a while yet, which is great news because look at this sweater I found!

Holy Cow-Cats Batman...

I've decided to put it up for sale at Snap Snap, as it is vintage and I'm not sure I could pull it off, but I think it's quirky enough that someone else might be able to.  It is 100% cotton and literally covered with applique cats...and a butterfly and a mouse.

You know?  All the things cat's really like to play with...although there's no yarn balls (but the sweater is made out of yarn, so I pretty much think that yarn ball can be implied here in this situation) and there's not a picture of a cat getting under someone's feet and tripping them (which is also another favorite activity of cats)  (Although, on the back of the sweater?  There are 3 sets of kitty paw prints...so I think we can also assume kitty tripping is also implied here, as I have known cats to trip you and then walk on your back after you fall on your face...)  And it says CATS in very large letters.

In case you are blind confused, and can't quite figure out what this whole sweater is really all about.

I pretty much bought it because the whole pattern astounded me, well that and people were starting to snicker as they walked by me with my mouth hanging open.

And the garment tag is pretty much priceless.

Cotton Salsa!

(complete with a llama and Chinese writing)
(it was made in Peru by the way)

(although, I think that's pretty obvious...you'd almost have to be dead not to have picked that up)

24 February 2010

Someone Has Their Eye On Me...

...Apparently.

Do you ever have that feeling that you're being watched...feeling someone's eyes boring a hole through you, only to turn around and discover that there's no one there?

Well.
You are not alone my friend...

In fact, I'm here to tell you that in my particular case?  It would seem as if I'm being watched.
(see?!  My ear infection hasn't gone to my brain and totally made me paranoid)

The above, which we shall  hereto refer to as evidence A: is a picture that I snapped in Snap Snap today.  Upon walking in, I found a bag of clothes for me to price and when I lifted them off the counter, to my utter shock and amazement this EYE was left behind.

Creepy, no?

I don't know who exactly is trying to send the message that they have their eye on me...but it would appear as if they were vintage in some way, as this particular eye is made of glass...and most things eye-like nowadays are made with plastic.

I am thinking that the glass material of the eye makes for a better tiny camera lens to see through?
And that little metal piece sticking out in back would be the perfect tiny microphone stand for a tiny microphone.

Come to think of it, the whole thing kind of reminds me of that scene in The Fifth Element where the bad guys strapped that camera and microphone on the cockroach so that they could then spy on the good guys?

Which would make me Milla Jovovich...

Obviously.

I totally loved that movie!
(screw the reviewers!  I saw it twice at the theater...and I own it)

And Milla Jovovich and in all those fantastic costumes designed by Jean Paul Gautier?!  Are you kidding me...she was just mesmerizing.  I mean, I understand that I do not quite resemble Milla (mostly.  I did accidentally dye my hair that color with henna once in college)  but I'm excited that someone out there might think I'm the fifth element.

(which if I remember correctly was both love and a woman...and I am a pretty romantic and I'm a gal)

Ohhhh...maybe that's why I got in all those sequin bustiers?

Multipass...

22 February 2010

Fifteen Years Later...

I still go to the same place most mornings.  Whether I have climbed into my car or into a good pair of walking shoes...most mornings for the last fifteen years have found me grabbing my leaopard key and inserting it into the door of Snap Snap.

A door I hand painted myself over the years to reflect picture decorations and hours of operation.

Just like I painted the vintage salvaged windows that hang in my front window, just like I painted the easel to match my business cards that I set in front of the shop each morning (depending on the weather) and just like I painted the wooden sign that hangs over the shop.  Which happens to be the second sign I've painted in the last fifteen years.

Fifteen years.

I can't believe it.

I won't tell you that time has passed like the blink of an eye any more than I'll tell you that I can feel each day of the last fifteen years.  I remember the snatches of the first day in the shop...I can remember being nervous and excited.  I know now, I had not one clue what I was getting myself into all those years ago.

I was too young to even imagine.

Too young to know then what I know now...and I'm sure I will be able to say that about myself years from now as well.

I can surely sit and contemplate how many times fashion and styles have changed over the last fifteen years and how many times I've had to recreate things...redefine...reorganize...redo.

My original flier with the "wrong" phone number that I had to cross out...and LONG hours

Upon a whole lot of reflection today, I know that whatever I have done these last fifteen years has not been alone.  I have had more help over and over again...from family, friends, landlords, the handful of consignment accounts I've carried over the years, all of my customers, my buyers, my sellers, and those who do trades...and yet, I also realized that nothing that has happened these last fifteen years would have been if it was not for what I've done as well.

Snap Snap and I have a very deep relationship with each other and the community we so happily and proudly live in.

We seem to walk on this journey hand in hand

Rich walked into Snap Snap early morning today...while I was hanging up streamers and putting out cookies...making signs and getting things all ship shape (in the snow I might add)  He wanted to congratulate me and tell me how proud he was of me.  He wanted to take my picture...which was a total surprise.  He wanted to document what 15 years looked like...just like when my friend Doty walked in on day one (that first picture up there with me in the same Dr. Martens I graduated college in, the ones that helped my mother to identify me walking across the stage to collect my diploma?)  to document what day one looked like...

(it looks younger and the walls look less painted and the carpet newer)

This is when I got very very teary-eyed.

Rich says that this picture makes me look like a shop owner...and I realize that indeed, it kind of does.  It makes me look like I know something... It's been a long run all these days in Snap Snap.  All the lessons learned, the laughter and fun...the upsets and set backs.

Fifteen years.

I guess I know a lot of somethings.

This is my life.

And I'm very proud.

Thank you...all of you...for the past fifteen years...and those years yet to come.

19 February 2010

Ohhhh...Shiny...

Seriously.

Can you stand it?!

Much to my total delight and the part of me that really connects with anything both sparkly and sexy (because one can never have too many of each of those things in their lives) a young girl came in first thing this morning with a load of crazy inherited garments.

And?  You'll be happy to know that all of these things came from an elderly woman...

Kim (who happened to pop by to appraise me of life things) also witnessed this crazy shiny mess.  We were both wondering exactly what kind of elderly woman would possess such shiny goodness...and the answer is:  Obviously some kicky broad that we'd like to get to know better!

(After all, I'm practically dying to see what her jewelry and shoes look like!)

Dang.

Sadly, as it is, both my stage performing and attendance in local parades have waned over the last few years..so these are all going out for sale at Snap Snap instead of finding themselves in my personal wardrobe.

I know.

I'm sure you'd love to see me in one of these numbers.

I'm sure most of Prescott would, and I am half tempted to nab one of these and wear it out tomorrow night when I get together with the girls.  Only half though.  I'm sure I have some sort of reputation to protect, and I'm thinking that wearing one of these (the flowered one obviously...I think we could have all predicted that) could probably tilt that reputation into a lot of places.  One never knows about these things, and usually when one does, it's a little late.

I also acquired a stunning black Bob Mackie jacked with beaded arrows on it...and I was really tempted to keep that as well.  But, my days of fancying myself as Cher are most likely over.

Most likely.

Wow.

Have I become boring?

Window Shopping For Love...

This morning I found a really great bird cage.

I'm not sure why this particular cage jumped out at me (except that it's cute and distressed and is topped by a wonderful tin roof and hearts cut into it the frame of it) but I found myself thinking that it would look good in a Valentine's Day display for Snap Snap.

I'm sure if we pop open my head to examine my psyche close enough, that  there's some deep seeded meaning about why I associate love with a cage.

And your love being caged...and how you need to set it free...

Or sometimes looking at our pasts, we should have put some of our lovers in cages?

Whatever the case may be...I decided that this cage would probably fit well in the window.  Also?  I love bird cages with or without the love association...so what the heck!

I decided that I would enjoy it if there were little hearts flying around in the cage...like butterflies, hearts to me look like wings...and birds have wings...and sometimes they live in cages?

Maybe I feel repressed with Valentine's Day looming in the distance?  Which is strange because I totally believe in love and romance...

Methinks my quick association with Love in a Cage is bothering me.
(I'll be happy to entertain your theories in the comments)

I purchased some wonderful rose paper not too long ago in eager anticipation of my handmade Valentines that usually roll out this time of year...but I have put these off to the absolute last minute.  Making me cringe because I think this year I may forgo the making of Valentines all together.

What?!?

I know.

The image as me of Superwoman probably just slipped a bit in your mind just then, didn't it?  Well...join the club, the image started slipping for me when I thought about running around in public in a leotard.

You know?  I can handle the cape and tiara...but the leotard?

I don't think so.

Cutting up paper hearts and putting them in a cage and then putting that on display in the window of Snap Snap is like one giant handmade Valentine...and really, when you think about it?  It reaches a much larger audience.

So Happy Valentines Day!

All I'm saying is, at least it's a prettier display than my pedicure.  And of course, all those little paper hearts flying around are much prettier than the place where I pushed a thumb tack through the top of my thumb when I was attaching little flying hearts to the inside of said cage...Leaving me with the very accurate observation that all thumbtacks are not created equal, and the fancier colorful ones aren't as strong and tend to bend easily...

(especially when they hit bone...I'm just sayin')

Doing the High Kick With Popcorn...

As I stare into the face of the end of yet another week...I'm a little amazed.  It went by so quickly.  Why is that things go by so much quicker now?  Is it my age?  Is it like they say...you'd better watch out or you'll snap your fingers and it will be gone like that?

It could be the fact that I had an extra long week the last two weeks and I got to take Monday off this week, and I happen to be creating extra drama.

Just sayin.

I'm also looking into a couple of days to myself and the inevitable onslaught of potential plans that pop in and out of my head which would be enough to fill up a week of days off.  I'm feeling like not making any concrete plans instead, and just watching them come and go through the drive-in theater in my head...potentially fun activities peppered with dancing candies and popcorn...holding hands, doing the high kick.

I mean, really...Is there anything quite as magical as anthropomorphic food?

Perhaps.  But watching happy food hold hands and dance around does make one pause.

I think I shall spend the weekend instead recovering...recovering from the onslaught of jeans at Snap Snap the denimy goodness covering every workspace and spilling out all over.  The inevitable running out of hangers...

And this whateverIhad cold/flu thing not too long ago coming back for a visit...hopefully it will be brief because it's moved into my chest...and I'd rather it not take up residence there for too long in there thankyouverymuch.  Cause, it's making me tired, and interfering with my gym time.

And heavens but Foolsewoode needs a once over by someone with a vacuum in one hand and a duster in the other.

So...for all of you with big plans this weekend, I hope your every wish comes true...for the rest of us, I hope we find an easy rhythm in which to enjoy ourselves.
