Weekend Roundup...

The thing with having a 4-day work week is...

It still seems long.
You know? Something like, I've only had to be around 4 days instead of 5...but, boy am I tired. By the time Friday rolled-around, I was well ready for a little break. In the form of a weekend:
  • Rich and I played catch-up with each other (he was working hard during the holiday weekend, so I didn't get to see him too much then, and t0 top it all off there was a lot of other week happenings that we had to work around as well)
  • A tee-ball game with Niko and family...
  • A fun girlie lunch and outing with M on Saturday afternoon.
  • The finishing up of the fingerless mitts for Rich
  • A road trip...
Oh yes.

A road trip.

You see, after Rich completed his 2 days off this week...he got another surprise...Sunday off as well. And, it was high time to make a great escape (all his suggestion, of course, but I didn't really need any convincing)

Our first stop left us driving through Sedona. And, I'll bet you know why...Rollies Camera. Rich has been oogling wide angle lenses for some time now. He's been talking about them. A Lot. So, he wanted to just pop in and price them...you know? For fun...

Well, the one he liked was just the right price, and he snapped it up! (get it? Camera? Snap? Ha.) This left me plenty of time to browse, which can be dangerous. You remember this is the place that I found my Crumpler bag? Well...they'd gone to some sort of camera convention thing...and had a lot of new Crumpler items in stock. One being a limited edition bag. I'll fill you in on that at a later date OK?

(hey, if I have one thing here...it's the suspense)

After a quick stop at the Life Is Good store, we hopped into the car to drive up to our final destination...Flagstaff. I've actually been wanting to go to Flagstaff for quite a while now, and Rich somehow read my mind, because I don't recall ever mentioning it out loud. We visited some of my favoritest haunts:

  • The very cool Catholic church, which is complete with both wonderful rock work, and supercool pink gargoyles (it is a little fancy for the town of Flagstaff, yet very...gothic...I dig on the gargoyles in a big way. Catholic art is fascinating...I love to find gargoyles and crosses all in the same place, although I think gargoyles are supposed to be building protectors, so I suppose it makes sense, eh?)
  • Strolling downtown.
  • The Life Is Good store there (who knew there were so many of those in Northern Arizona? I certainly didn't...so, I guess we can consider this a new favorite haunt)
  • Bookmans...A ginormous used book store that I usually have a lot of credit at (again...I'll leave you with the suspense of what I scored there...see the above reason)
After a fun afternoon complete with lunch and a Chai drink...we drove our way along old Route 66...or at least what we could find of it...unfortunately that movie Cars is somewhat accurate as Route 66 has been a bit dismantled over the years (although, we didn't find any talking automobiles. Mostly) but we were able to make pit stops in both Williams and Ashfork for a bit of a look around...

Phew...Sunday was a busy day indeed wasn't it? I have been sitting here trying to end this post, and then something else inevitably pops into my head...

I had such a wonderful time this weekend...I just don't want it to end. Don't get me wrong, I love Snap Snap, I love going there when I get to work...but as I sit here trying not to doze and fall completely asleep over the computer key board (even though I think I could use a good long snuggle) I realize that I am trying my hardest to stay awake so the weekend won't end...

As I told Rich earlier, I think I'm off to find some toothpicks in which to prop my eyelids open...

Fun gargoyles. I don't think there are any on the buildings in this town. Hmmm...

Ooh, pink gargoyles! They remind me of the luck dragon in The Neverending Story.

It sounds like you had a very lovely weekend. I'm so glad you and Rich had so much fun. It's a very good sign when you don't want it to end. :)

I didn't know that Flag had such a fine pair of gargoyles -- my kids never, never told me! Thanks for the pictures.
