Mostly Wordless Wednesday...

Last Friday night marked the anniversary of 100 years of football at Prescott High School.

I went to the game with Dina...

Someone managed to bring along a very old football player who was in his 80's to be honored on the field before the game started.

I wore my letterman's sweater that I received while attending PHS after lettering in band for two years.

I was a flag girl.

While I'm not actually in my 80's, I did attend PHS in the 80's and thought it was rather bold of me to wear a sweater that if you did some quick subtraction, you could pretty much pin point my age after reading my left front pocket.

(which also happens to house a pin that says "I survived the graduation party of 1988")

(duh.)

I still treasure my letterman's sweater and felt a whole lot nostalgic after I dug it out of the cedar chest, and blew the layer of dust off of it.

(well, nostalgic for the parts of High School I could remember anyway...hee-hee!)

It feels all sorts of special to be a part of Prescott's history...that doesn't include a mug shot or nasty write-up in the local paper.

Dina's lovely and talented niece is in the band as well, and she did an outstanding job marching all over the field.

(they played songs from Wicked...which I thought was very cool)

Of course, I had to critique the current flag line...who was wearing some pretty crazy make-up and hair colors.  Dina's mother leaned over at one point and said, "Wouldn't you have loved to do your face up like that?" and I looked at her horrified and said, "Um.  NO!  I was much too cool to do that ThankYouVeryMuch!"

Although, with age I may be remembering that all wrong too.

A particular favorite red and green zebra striped tomato from last weekends Market haul.

Delicious.

Proving you can be both functional and beautiful...

A group of old friends.

Or rather...

Friends from the past.

(cause' we're not old)

(though who can tell with all that squinty on my face?!  I swear...I do. not. squint. that much in real life...although, I had been having margaritas and my right contact was slightly foggy...I need to learn how to smile for pictures...cause' squint is not a good look!)

At Kim's Bar-B-Q for The Fourth of July.

Please note that I am the only one dressed patriotically...You can see my little rhinestone flag pin, and cherry skirt.  Although, I'm not too sure cherries are patriotic...but more of something that George Washington would rather not be reminded of.

Oh the folly of youth...

Lately.

Bringing light to the shadows...

We were talking-about the space between us all
And the people-who hide themselves behind a wall of illusion
Never glimpse the truth-then it's far too late-when they pass away.
We were talking-about the love we all could share-when we find it
To try our best to hold it there-with our love
With our love-we could save the world-if they only knew.
Try to realize it's all within yourself
No-one else can make you change
And to see you're really only very small,
And life flows ON within you and without you.
We were talking-about the love that's gone so cold and the people,
Who gain the world and lose their soul-
They don't know-they can't see-are you one of them?
When you've seen beyond yourself-then you may find, peace of mind,
Is waiting there-
And the time will come when you see
we're all one, and life flows on within you and without you.

I am in need of some flowers...and I figured you might be too...so these?

Are for you.

I am well aware that they're slightly dried, but honestly?
I think they'll keep that way much longer...and they're still so beautiful.
And we all need a little bit of beauty in our corners of the world sometimes...

I am always so enchanted by the beautiful and intricate details that are housed in flowers...their patterns, softness, colors, veins.  Flowers are like everyday miracles that seem to exist just to be noticed, but unlike most narcissists, they bloom even when and where people can't see them.
(you know?  Cause we people think we're the highest form of intelligence and all)

Enjoy.

Furious Precious Cakes in the outfit I made her...

I don't think I need to say too much about her...I think this picture pretty much says it all.

S'UP...?

Camo hoodie and in my opinion, Pure Inspiration and the perfect accessory to this ensemble was added by her fashionista mother Megan.

Mostly Wordless Wednesday...

Finding myself exactly in this position this morning.

Well.

Not on that particular bed per say...
That's Mena's heated window bed.
(yes she's sleeping on a down cushion...we are big believers in down here at Foolsewoode after all)

I was more in my own fluffy down nest bed.

Rudely awakened by a beeping alarm during the middle of a not so particularly good dream (if I remember correctly) but woken after thinking, "it's still dark outside!"  Which it usually is when I wake up to shuffle off to the gym.

I was rationalizing that I could easily skip today and make up today on Friday instead, but realized that I would only probably sleep another hour or so...and probably more fitfully than restful.  And I notice that I don't have the same energy throughout the day when I don't work out...and I also remembered that I am currently staring into the face of a birthday with a zero at the end of the first number...and if not now, when?
So, I left the kitty sleeping while I got my groove on to Universal Religion 3...

Which also happens to be perfect driving music if one happens to be scaling up and down Mingus mountain towards the historic mining town of Jerome Arizona.

It's the rhythm of the music that matches the curves of the road that really does it.

Which happens to be the exact same rhythm that makes me lift my feet a little higher and faster while participating in cardio...

I'm not saying that it totally erases the yawns...but it certainly helps.

PS  It did not escape my attention that Armin Van Buuren released Universal Religion 4...It's currently being downloaded from iTunes.

Ohhhh...what's that?

That, my dear cat, is a Javellina!

As shot from inside the house this weekend (hence the not so great picture quality)  I don't usually go out and rile these guys up...even if it is a fun picture opportunity.  And I was a bit worried about this one, because they usually travel in packs.  But I wasn't worried enough to pop my head out the door and ask it, "...why so alone?"

So, this is my 1001th post.

I missed shouting about my 1000th post.

I'm not sure what to think about that.  I'm amazed that I found enough to say that I posted 1000 times...I hope I find more to say in the future.  I hate to say that I'm a bit nervous that I've exhausted every topic out there...

FIESTA!!

This weekend as part of our camping trip was a side trip to Sedona and Tlaquepaque...

And margaritas!

(both of which I was forced to drink because DaNece's was too strong...and we didn't think to compare it with mine, which was not as strong...because honestly? If you've already finished one margarita and think the second one is too strong...well, you can imagine how strong the second one was.)

(just sayin)

(It also made me wonder why hers was stronger than mine? Was she cuter to the bartender or was it simply the luck of the pour?)

(alcohol seems to bring out my insecure side)

(It also made that thunder/lightning/hail/rain storm a lot more fun when we went back to camp!)

Hidden Windows...

There's something about them.

Much like walking through my neighborhood at dusk...peering into people's well lit homes. It's fascinating.

But not in a creepy stalker sort of way...

Just seeking glimpses into people's lives as they go about their tasks.

But hidden windows and doors evoke a more romantic notion...a curiosity. Which probably explains why I love the story The Secret Garden, and why I have read it again and again...or why I love pictures that show some sort of a path...Something small to ignite my creativity...

Leading me to wonder about the story behind such things...

Hidden windows, doors...and paths leading to somewhere...

Behind those things and in those things, the possibilities for magic is endless...the fulfillment of every dream and wish might just be around the next corner...

If only you had the key.

Mornings at Foolsewoode...

Are not complete without a little cream in your coffee.

During my first
trip to Italy (after sleeping not even 15 minutes of the night) I awoke to stagger lightly dance down to the continental breakfast. In Italy, no meal is complete without Espresso (and I'm not sure what they do to their coffee there, but I can drink coffee there all day long and not be one bit jittery...If I did such a thing in the states, or didn't adhere to my strict half reg. half decaf. I would be committed...) and my espresso is not complete without latte.

In Italy, they happen to have warm latte.

This made me put down the latte that first day after pouring it in my coffee, look my companion squarely in the eyes and say, "I am not going to want to go back home!"
(and I actually felt more like that after I'd gotten a good night's sleep later, but for totally different reasons.)

You see, warm latte and not chilled cream, was a total novelty to me. I could add the perfect amount of cream to my coffee and not cool it down one little bit.

LeSigh.

As I mentioned before, no morning is complete at Foolsewoode without a bit of cream...and while I don't actually heat my cream (and it's soy) I do pour it out into a little creamer I rescued from somewhere...so that at least it is room temperature when I pour it into my coffee.

I actually have a few creamers in the kitchen, but I have been using this one the most as it's my very favorite. First, the weight is perfect...it is nice and heavy and sturdy, like vintage restaurant china...and second? Well this is the reason I bought this baby. If you look very closely, under that flower decal someone put on there is the logo for The United States Army...

I am tickled that someone thought to put the little flowers over this instead of getting rid of it because it's wasn't decorative enough for them...

And it's perfect for my Latte...
