And Then...

The storm blew in on Saturday...

Yes, here in
the Groundhog-Day like (and it was Groundhog Day wasn't it? Little bugger saw his shadow so, 6 more weeks...although, it wasn't that hard to believe this weekend) Arizona...where we were hosting the SuperBowl...and we had weather.

Big weather...

At least up here.

Waking up to
snow in the morning on Sunday, and then watching lots of snow fall all day, accompanied by wind...and no real accumulation, but tons of slush. Luckily Meena just got a heated bed in the mail, so she's been quite warm as of late...

So, we lazed around most of the weekend...I cranked up the fireplace, and we oscillated from watching movies along with the snow fall and the insane wind gusts, and reading...and running a few errands as well...

Saturday was spent
running to and fro, picking up various groceries, new mineral makeup (for my hopefully soon to be glowing face)...

While I was out at one stop, someone came over the intercom of the store to kindly remind us to not forget to pick up the coals...and lest you think I was in a burned out shell of a store, I think they were actually referring to bar-b-q...you know? For the BigGame? I had to roll my eyes a bit and laugh as it was roughly 45 out and a storm that was bringing snow was starting to blow in at a rapid rate...Seriously? I'm sitting around in an entire fleece outfit in an effort to stay warm...

and I'm inside.

Sunday was laundry day (just washing, no folding and putting away...I don't want to over do it...but, I did do my sheets, so it's clean snuggly flannel for myself) And, I seriously rocked a stew...one that I had been wanting to make for more than a month...

The taste on my lips was one of complete ecstasy, as I honestly can't believe I made something that tasted that good...I actually closed my eyes and issued a rather large mmmm and a sigh...I wish someone had been here to share it with me...but, I probably will make it again.

It was an epic 3 hour to make stew, that was accompanied by sage and rosemary mashed potatoes...luckily, there is so much left over that I can bring it to work with me for a few days at least (lucky me) My whole house still smells like the stew...it's heavenly.

Gosh I love to cook.

While I was cooking, I installed my new under the sink pull-out trash can...I found one at CostCo, and it was a heck of a lot cheaper than the one at Lowe's, so I snapped it up...and it's just sitting in there waiting for me to use it. I am a little worried that I may accidentally forget it's under there after I remove my other one, and start throwing food on the floor where the other one was instead. I have a wonderful vintage wire trash can right now...but, it's so big, I thought I would try to conserve a little space in the kitchen and do something new.

I also quilted this little trivet...

You know? Cause' of the epic stew's cooking time?

Only it's not a trivet...

Mostly.

Mostly it's a new mouse pad.

Now, we all know that I have the most adorable black MacBook known to man, but I had mentioned a while back that I would maybe like to have a wireless mouse to use with it...

And last week, my sweetie surprised me with one. It's been sitting here since then, because I didn't have a mouse pad anymore...So, I cleaned off my computer table (which is actually a very fun table tray) scooched over the MacBook, and made room for my new addition. I was able to scare up some sock monkey scraps I had laying around, and stitch them together...and don't you know I'm tempted to make one for every holiday and season?

I think though,
that we shall be happy with this one for now. Seasonal mouse pads might be taking it a bit too far.

I love that mousepad! My mousepad is a sad advertisement for a now defunct technical college.

You were far more productive over a snowy weekend than I would have been. Oh, and I hear ya on not folding and putting away. That's my least favorite part. If I could get away with it, we'd all live out of laundry baskets.

Warning about mice on pretty mouse pads -- if they're infra-red, they may start jumping around on your screen like random! I had that problem, which I considered very mysterious until my nerdish dotter simply substituted a one-color folder. As for cooking during the shut-in day, I used my mini-crockpot to immerse the last of a pork roast from the freezer in sauerkraut. Yummm!
