And, it's so darned close to Valentine's Day isn't it?
At least that's what finally clicked in for me this last weekend, as I was pushing my annual Valentine's Cards back to a far recess of my mind...I have time, I have time...
Naw girl...you have about as much time left to create these Valentines as a donut does on the snack table at a Weight Watchers Meeting...
I actually adore making my own Valentine's Day cards...it's something that harkens back to my mother...she always made Valentine's Day cards with us...Thus, I think it is such a fun way to show love and appreciation to those in my life...With something that I've made from the heart.
I have heard (usually from various boyfriends in the past) that they hate to celebrate Valentine's Day as it is a made up holiday by the evil Hallmark and flower cartels...Well, according to several sources on the Internets...that just isn't true (HA! Take that you cheap inconsiderate bastards! You were never really fooling me anyway.) And apparently has been celebrated as a romantic holiday since the high Middle Ages...in Geoffrey Chaucer's crowd. As a matter of fact, he wrote the poem:
- For this was on seynt Volantynys day
- Whan euery bryd comyth there to chese [choose] his make [mate].
Romantic birds choosing their mates?
Ok, since I happen to enjoy making Valentine's Cards so very much for those I adore, I have made an extra one just for one of you...if you leave a comment between now and Friday evening on this particular post...I will draw a lucky winner, post their name on Saturday Morning, and send them a little something for Valentine's Day...
Made with my own two hands...
But, probably no birds.
But, definitely a card...
